The ph 2/1 is the smallest pendant in the well-known ph series and is based on the well-thought-out three-shade principle. With a diameter of 20 cm, it is neat in its expression, but provides an impressive and pleasant light.

the shades are made of mouth-blown opal glass in three layers, shiny on the outside and matt sandblasted on the inside. The combination creates a soft, even and pleasant light distribution. The luminaire is designed according to the principle of a reflective three-shade system that directs most of the light downwards and provides a completely glare-free light.

the iconic three-shade system was developed by poul henningsen in collaboration with louis poulsen during the years 1925–1926 for an exhibition in paris. The design is based on the logarithmic spiral, a mathematical form found in nature, which provides an even light distribution over the entire curve of the shade. Together with the diffuse reflection of the glass, a harmonious and atmospheric light is created.

the name “2/1” refers to the fact that the upper shade has a diameter of approximately 20 cm, while the lower shades are taken from the original 1/1 model. The proportions were chosen to enable a slightly lower placement of the lamp.
