A beautiful late 19th century French daybed crafted from solid burled walnut wood, featuring a warm polished finish and an exceptional natural patina developed over time.
This elegant and understated piece is believed to have originated from a convent or church rectory, reflected in its simple lines and honest provincial craftsmanship. The hardware is complete with all original pieces intact.
The bed was professionally restored and lengthened in the 1980s to accommodate modern use. During this restoration, additional structural supports were added underneath to support modern mattress sizes, similar to those found in contemporary beds, ensuring strength and stability while preserving its antique character.
