DESCRIPTION

An original RH Restoration Hardware Lancaster Modular Sectional upholstered in Italian Brompton leather in Cocoa, no longer available in this configuration.

This is a piece with presence.

The leather has already developed the rich, dimensional patina that defines a well-appointed library or study — layered, warm, and unmistakably sophisticated. It does not carry the stiffness of a showroom floor model. Instead, it reflects years of careful ownership and a professionally refreshed finish that feels established, curated, and entirely placement ready.

This four-piece modular configuration offers exceptional flexibility:

Configured as shown, the sectional measures approximately 10' x 8'.

The included armless chair allows you to extend either the left or right return, meaning the sectional can be oriented in either direction depending on your space. This adaptability is rare — and no longer available through RH in this scale or format.

The Lancaster program has evolved over the years, and this earlier-era build (2013–2015) reflects Restoration Hardware’s substantial construction standards of the time — a level many collectors actively seek out.

ITALIAN BROMPTON – COCOA

Brompton is RH’s top-grain pure aniline leather, hand-tanned in Italy at a 150-year-old tannery. European hides receive twelve layers of hand-applied wax and are gently polished to enhance tonal depth and subtle sheen.

Over time, Brompton develops lighter undertones and a softened hand, creating that distinctive antiqued character associated with fine leather furnishings. The cocoa tone on this sectional carries beautiful tonal movement and depth throughout.

CONSTRUCTION

• Kiln-dried solid hardwood frame
• Reinforced mortise-and-tenon joinery
• 8-way hand-tied spring suspension
• Down-feather wrapped foam core seat cushions
• Down-feather back cushions
• Velvet-backed cushion panels (prevents slipping and allows leather to breathe)
• Turned hardwood feet

This is a substantial, heavy, old-build RH sectional — not a lightweight reproduction.

CONDITION

The sectional presents beautifully with a rich, masculine patina consistent with pure aniline Italian leather.

It has been comprehensively refreshed:

• Down inserts removed and cleaned
• Leather cushions steam-treated to redistribute natural oils
• Frame cleaned and conditioned
• Feet in excellent condition

Seating is balanced and supportive. No structural concerns.

There is a visible scratch on the back panel of the right-arm facing sofa section consistent with transport. It does not penetrate through the hide and does not impact structure or performance. Surface markings are natural to Brompton leather and integrate into its character over time. In addition, there is a very small area of minor upholstery shifting along the base seam close to the arm of the right-arm facing sofa section. A slight reveal of the underlying decking is visible upon close inspection. The leather remains intact, and there is no separation of stitching or structural concern. This is cosmetic in nature and consistent with normal material movement in leather seating.

Overall, the piece reflects depth, craftsmanship, and presence that cannot be replicated through current production.
