This exquisite porcelain fish bowl features the intricate "Millefleurs" (Thousand Flows) design, a celebrated Chinese motif where a dense, vibrant tapestry of botanical blooms completely covers the surface. Set against a rich, gilded gold ground, this piece is a luxurious example of mid-to-late 20th-century export porcelain, accompanied by a custom-fitted carved Rosewood Chinese pedestal display stand.
Exterior: Hand-decorated with a variety of colorful flora including peonies (wealth), chrysanthemums (longevity), and lotuses.
Interior: The interior features four iron-red goldfish swimming amidst green water weeds. In Chinese culture, the goldfish is a powerful symbol of "abundance" and "surplus".
Markings: The base bears a red four-character seal mark: 中国彭瓷 (Zhongguo Peng Ci), identifying it as "China Peng Porcelain" from the People's Republic of China era. (Zhong Guo) China; (Peng) This is a specific surname or factory name; (Ci) Porcelain.

No structural cracks, large chips, or professional restorations detected. Crazing: None observed. The glaze remains clear and glassy without the fine spiderweb-like cracking often seen in older or lower-quality ceramics. Minor "kiln grit" or tiny pinholes may be present on the underside or rim, which is characteristic of mid-century hand-fired porcelain and is not considered a defect. Gold Ground: The gold leaf background shows very little to no "rubbing" or thinning, suggesting this was likely used as a decorative display piece rather than a functional planter. Interior: The iron-red goldfish and aquatic greens are crisp and vibrant. No significant water staining or mineral buildup that would occur from use as a live plant pot. Base: Some natural shelf wear and darkening on the unglazed foot rim, which is consistent with its age. The Carved Rosewood Chinese Pedestal Stand is in excellent condition. No stains or scrapes. less
