Original mid-century oil painting depicting a rural mountain path with figures, executed in warm, expressive brushwork. The painting is signed lower right Ramos Castillo and is dated 1957, with handwritten inscription on the reverse noting the title “Camino entre Cerros” and the location Maipo, Chile.
The work is presented in its original rustic wood frame, which shows honest age-appropriate wear consistent with a piece from the 1950s and adds to its character. The reverse retains its original paper backing, which is loose in areas and shows expected aging, including minor tears and staining. The backing has been intentionally left intact as part of the work’s original construction and provenance.
A period Orr’s Gallery, San Diego stamp remains visible on the reverse, indicating original gallery framing.
The painting surface presents well, with no visible paint loss or restoration observed. This is a strong decorative example of mid-century Latin American regional painting, well suited for traditional, collected, or European-influenced interiors.

The painting surface presents well, with stable paint and no visible paint loss, restoration, or structural damage observed. Craquelure is minimal and appropriate for age. The original wood frame shows expected wear, including surface abrasions, small nicks, and finish variation, all consistent with age and original construction. Wear is cosmetic and does not affect stability. The reverse retains its original paper backing, which is loose and torn in areas, with age-related staining and creasing. The backing has been intentionally left intact as part of the piece’s originality and provenance. Original gallery stamp remains visible. The artwork is not currently wired and will require hanging wire prior to installation. Overall, this is a well-preserved mid-century painting with honest age-related wear and strong decorative presence. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the condition description. less
