Offered as a matching pair, these early 20th-century decorative prints are presented in their original period giltwood frames, retaining a beautifully aged surface and authentic construction details.
The frames feature a pressed and carved wood composition with applied gilt detailing over a darkened ground, showing intentional antiquing and decades of natural wear. The finish exhibits areas of soft gilt loss, edge wear, and tonal variation consistent with age, contributing to their character and authenticity.
Both pieces retain their original open backs, showing early paper backing remnants, traditional small finishing nails, and period wire hanging hardware. Each frame is fitted with simple metal eye hooks and wire, allowing them to be hung immediately without modification.
These works are best understood as decorative objects rather than fine art, ideal for layering into traditional, European, or collected interiors. Their aged presentation makes them especially well suited to libraries, hallways, powder rooms, or vignette-style wall arrangements.
Sold together as a pair. Early 20th-century New York Times rotogravure art prints, circa 1914, after works by Rembrandt.

The frames show expected surface wear including scattered losses to gilt, areas of rubbed finish, minor edge wear, and small chips, particularly along corners and raised details. These imperfections are consistent with early 20th-century decorative frames and contribute to their authentic patina. The printed images remain stable behind glass. Backing materials show age-appropriate wear, including toning, small tears, and previous paper reinforcement. The backs are open, as made. Original wire hanging hardware is present on both pieces, and they are ready to hang. Overall, a well-preserved decorative pair with honest wear appropriate to age. less
