Presenting a significant example of mid-century French craftsmanship: a signed and dated 1946 Louis XV style dining table by master ébéniste Marcel Bibaut. This piece carries a dual provenance, featuring both the artist’s signature and the prestigious "Camard - France" stamp from the renowned Saint-Ouen antiques district in Paris.
This table showcases a high-quality "hybrid" construction typical of premium 1940s French cabinetry. It features a solid oak frame and top with traditional wooden dowel joinery and a wood-on-wood draw-leaf system. The two leaves slide out seamlessly on hand-fitted wooden tracks, an old-world mechanism that eliminates the need for modern metal glides. Internal structural reinforcements utilize period-correct screws, ensuring the table remains rock-solid after 80 years of history.
The tabletop is a masterclass in parquetry, featuring a hand-set geometric diamond design with a rich, natural honey-oak patina. With its signature cabriole legs and gracefully scalloped apron, this table is a versatile anchor for high-end French Provincial, Modern Farmhouse, or Transitional interiors.

It has been well-maintained and remains structurally superior to most modern equivalents. STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY The table is rock-solid and exceptionally sturdy. There is no wobbling, structural cracking, or loose joinery. The hybrid construction—utilizing traditional wooden dowels reinforced with period-correct internal screws—ensures long-term stability. SURFACE & FINISH The solid oak features a beautiful, original natural honey-oak patina. There is minor, age-appropriate surface wear consistent with historical use, including light surface scratches and faint character marks that blend into the wood grain. There is no significant wood loss, deep gouges, or major chips to the parquet top or scalloped apron. MECHANICAL FUNCTION The "hardware-free" draw-leaf system is fully original and in perfect working order. Both leaves slide out smoothly on their hand-fitted wooden tracks without sticking or resistance. ADDITIONAL DETAILS • Originality: All parts are original, including both solid oak leaves. • Odors: This is a clean, odor-free item from a smoke-free environment. • Restoration: No recent modern restorations or paint. The finish appears to be the original aged varnish/wax. less
