A refined vintage French porcelain terrine by Pullivuyt of Limoges, produced for Lamalle, New York City.
This petite oval terrine features a sculpted woodcock (bécasse) resting across the lid — a traditional French game bird motif historically associated with pâté and foie gras service. The piece is rendered in warm chestnut and caramel tones with hand-painted detailing to the plumage and elongated beak.
Unlike rustic faience examples, this terrine is fine French porcelain, giving it a smoother glaze, lighter weight, and more elevated finish.
Pullivuyt, founded in 1818 s known for producing high-quality porcelain for fine dining and luxury export markets. Pieces made for Lamalle NYC were intended for the American market and are increasingly desirable among collectors of French culinary ceramics.
