Antique Elite Works Limoges 10" Oval Serving Bowl - Gilded Scrolls & Celadon Dot Border
Elevate your tablescape with this elegant antique oval serving bowl from the renowned Elite Works (Bawo & Dotter) of Limoges, France. Produced during the factory's celebrated "Golden Age" (circa 1900–1914), this piece exemplifies the refined artistry of the French Belle Époque. It features a sophisticated scalloped rim accented by a delicate pale green dotted border and intricate, hand-applied gold floral scrollwork over a luminous white hard-paste porcelain body. Its generous ~10-inch scale makes it a versatile centerpiece for serving or a foundational element in a luxury "Grandmillennial" collection.
Dimensions:
Length: 10 inches
Width: 7.5 inches
Height: 2.5 inches
Condition:
Fair to Good Antique Condition. This authentic century-old piece shows its history of service with a visible "patina of use." The interior well exhibits light utensil scuffing and several small, dark "kiln dust" spots from the original firing. There is honest thinning and rubbing to the gold gilding on the scrollwork and along the scalloped rim. Note:There is a large, noticeable chip on the unglazed foot rim and a small nick on the outer scalloped edge (see detailed photos). These do not affect the bowl's stability and are not visible when the piece is on a table. No hairline cracks or repairs noted.
Collector’s Note: The Elite Works Dual-Mark System
This bowl features the prestigious Elite Works dual-backstamp, a hallmark of superior Limoges porcelain. The green underglaze factory mark dates the porcelain body to 1896–1920, while the red overglaze 'St. Martial' shield confirms the decoration was completed in-house between 1900 and 1914 Despite the chips, these exceptionally crisp marks verify its provenance from the factory's most celebrated era of production.
A timeless functional survivor from a bygone era of elegance, this Elite Works bowl brings the refined charm of turn-of-the-century France to the modern traditional home.
