A cigar ashtray created from a thick, heavy piece of glass, making for an impressive statement piece. Striking enough to display on its own, yet functional as well.
Stephen Schlanser (b. 1949) is an American glass sculptor and founder of Schlanser Design Studio in California. Trained in stained glass and kiln-fused techniques, he developed a signature method of shaping sheet glass in a closed kiln, then hand-cutting, polishing and sand-carving each vessel. His limited-edition and one-of-a-kind bowls, platters and vases are individually signed and dated, reflecting a rare fusion of functional form and sculptural presence. Collectors of his work include Oprah and Queen Elizabeth II.
