Surface: The handscroll exhibits a soft, authentic age-related patina consistent with its late 19th-to-early 20th-century origin. The brushwork remains highly legible with the vibrant pigments expected of a traditional ceremonial scroll. Toning: The paper/silk substrate displays gentle, characteristic age-toning and light, scattered foxing throughout the margins, typical for a piece of this period. This minor surface variation serves as a testament to the scroll’s longevity and historical authenticity. Structural: The scroll is physically sound. The mounting is intact, with light, consistent edge-wear from historical handling. There is no evidence of active deterioration or professional restoration. Note: Please refer to the detailed high-resolution photographs for a close-up assessment of the surface and margins. The item has been stored in a climate-controlled, smoke-free environment. less
