Antique-style silvered frame with distressed patina

Signed, original, oil on canvas. A wonderful atmospheric depiction of a spectacular stretch of coastline boasting dramatic cliffs, diverse wildlife and beaches renowned for rockpooling.

Bathed in soft sunlight and rendered with exquisite detail, this evocative seascape captures the stillness and solitude of a quiet tide. The artist’s handling of light is particularly striking, with the sun’s reflection rippling gently across the wet sands and shallow pools, creating a sense of movement within a deeply tranquil scene. The distant cliffs and rocks are rendered with atmospheric perspective, fading into a misty haze that adds depth and mood to the composition.

The subtle colour palette - dominated by silvery greys, muted blues, and earthy undertones - gives the work a timeless quality, while the masterful balance of shadow and illumination invites quiet contemplation. This piece would sit beautifully in both traditional and modern interiors, particularly where calm, poetic landscapes are appreciated. Its refined realism and emotive tone also make it an appealing acquisition for collectors interested in British coastal art. See less
