Vintage Painting of Children Fishing at River in Summer in the English Countryside by 20th Century British Artist, Paul Morgan
Art measures 30 x 20 inches
Frame measures 38 x 28 inches
This exquisite landscape painting captures the serene beauty of an idyllic riverside scene, bathed in the soft glow of morning light. The artist’s masterful use of delicate, atmospheric perspective draws the viewer into a tranquil world where mist lingers gently above the treetops and the calm river reflects the lush greenery surrounding it.
A solitary figure stands at the water’s edge, adding a quiet sense of scale and storytelling to the composition. Wildflowers bloom along the banks, their subtle hues of white, yellow, and violet adding a natural vibrancy to the foreground. The overall palette is soothing. Cool greens, earthy browns, and gentle pastels, evoking a deep sense of peace and nostalgia.
Set within an ornate, antique-style frame, the painting is not only a visual retreat but also a timeless piece of craftsmanship that would elevate any interior space, ideal for collectors who appreciate both technical precision and romantic naturalism.
Paul Morgan was born in Barking, Essex in 1940. He was the son of a talented amateur painter, who claims to have learnt a lot from his father at an early age, but primarily remains self taught. After school he took a three year apprenticeship in mechanical engineering. Dissatisfied with his new occupation he took a course in graphic design, and entered the commercial side of the art world. Quite unexpectedly he left his job to concentrate on painting full time, which was financially unrewarding at the start.
Eventually he made contact with an art dealer who bought sufficient of his works to keep him living and painting for the next four years. His strong religious beliefs and his love for art and nature led him through this difficult start, and he found support from other dealers and galleries. Paul’s work can now be found in Bermuda, the Middle East, Ceylon, West Africa and Canada , although he naturally remains best known in Western Europe particularly in Britain and Germany
