Miniature Vintage Oil Painting of Crummock Water in the English Lake District by British Artist, C Scott
Art measures 8.5 x 6 inches
Frame measures 12 x 9.5 inches
This atmospheric landscape by C. Scott beautifully captures the tranquil majesty of Crummock Water, one of the most beloved lakes in England’s Lake District. With a painterly balance of light and shadow, Scott conveys the shifting tones of the mountains, where lilac and gold hues roll gently into the serene surface of the lake below.
The composition is both intimate and expansive: foreground details of rocks and heather frame the reflective waters, while the rising fells create a dramatic backdrop softened by the glow of the late afternoon sky. The artist’s sensitive handling of colour and brushwork evokes a timeless sense of calm, transporting the viewer to the heart of this unspoiled landscape.
Housed in a richly ornamented gilt frame with a titled mount, the painting is presented to full effect, ready to hang and enjoy. Scott’s work is a fine example of the romantic landscape tradition, appealing to collectors of British landscape painting and admirers of the Lake District’s enduring beauty.
