Dimensions: height 28 cm, width 22.5 cm, depth 24 cm.

The layered red-and-black lacquer brings the carving to life: across the entire exterior, the wood’s underlying structure remains visible in fine, irregular chisel marks. This gives the piece the distinctive depth and lively surface typical of Kamakura-bori.

On the front, a bold bamboo motif in relief continues seamlessly across all four drawer fronts, so the image reads as one coherent design even when the drawers are in use. The drawers are in graduated sizes and are ideal for jewellery, stationery, seals, keys, sewing tools or small hobby supplies. Thanks to its compact format, it also works beautifully as a display piece on a desk or sideboard, topped with ceramics, an ikebana vase or a few small art objects.

Condition: very good, with minor signs of use consistent with age and handling. See less
