The cabinet has a restrained front in warm-toned wood, framed by a darker surround that adds depth. The metal pulls keep the design clean and timeless, while the visible grain and gentle wear give the piece a rich, lived-in character.

What makes it truly special are the original paper labels with Japanese calligraphy on each drawer. They lend an almost archival charm and also reveal how the cabinet was once used: as a carefully organised system for desk and studio supplies. Based on the labels, it likely held a mix of writing tools and paper goods (such as brushes, cards, and mail items), inks and pigments, and—towards the bottom—items related to seal work: tools and materials for hanko/inkan stamps.
