Impressive Anglo-Indian Padauk table, carved in wood, from the second half of the 19th century. Made in colonial India from the outset with the intention of being exported to Europe, mainly England.
The circular top is entirely carved with fine vegetal and floral motifs, finished with a bias-cut cord. It rests on three legs, joined to a single, profusely carved central stem. The legs feature imposing, large-scale dragon carvings. The scale detail is striking, a repetitive and highly realistic pattern that mimics the texture of reptile skin.
A highly decorative design with a strong visual impact and aesthetic appeal. This table can be the centerpiece of a living room, entryway, or bedroom; a dining table for 2-4 people; or even a library table for working. A high-end decorative piece that adds a distinctive touch to any room!
