The work dates back to … Read more This hand-knotted rug, created by the Italian artist Sandra Marconato (1927–2016), comes with her authentication. The work dates back to 1970 and was exhibited that same year at the Adelphi Gallery in Padua, during one of her solo exhibitions.
Sandra Marconato lived and worked in Padua. She trained at the Venice Art Institute, where she studied under weaving professor Anna Akerdal. She then continued her studies at the Kvinnlige Industri Skole in Oslo, Norway.
For Marconato, weaving was not just a craft, but a complex art form, where materials, shapes, and design merge into an expressive and original creation. Her work evolved over time, expanding into a broader field of research, also influenced by the teachings of the renowned architect and designer Carlo Scarpa. This piece has an attribution mark,
