Époque painting. Second half of the 19th century. French antiquity.

The young woman is portrayed half-length, wearing a dark, sober dress, enhanced by delicate chromatic accents on the bodice.

The face, finely shaped by light, emerges from a dark, softly blended background, creating a strong chiaroscuro contrast that enhances

the intense expression of the gaze.

The soft painterly handling and atmospheric rendering recall 19th-century realist and intimate painting.
