Bold paint strokes have been applied to canvas where a beautiful image of its subject in traditional Middle Eastern dress emerges as he enjoys his pipe.

Even the back of this painting tells a story, as it has the original tag still attached from the hotel where it hung in Tehran, Iran during the 1960s. The tag explains exactly where it hung in the hotel and the gallery from which it was on loan from.

The painting was created by world renown artist Cyrus Afsary, most notably known for his landscapes but once upon a time spent a moment in Tehran, where he painted the subjects of this city. He is formally trained and currently live in the Arizona, where his subject matter now focusing on Native American subjects.

Afsary paintings have sold up to $25,000 at auction and are extremely rare from this particular period in his career. Painting is in its original frame. See less
