This original acrylic on canvas painting transforms the Infinity Bridge of Stockton-on-Tees into a vibrant abstract structure composed of children’s wooden toys. Through bold geometric shapes and saturated color, the piece stages a poetic encounter between iconic architecture and imaginative play. Using elements that recall educational blocks—arches, platforms, cylinders—María Magán reconstructs the bridge’s twin curves in a dreamlike landscape of suggestion and minimalism. Part of the series Procesos, this work reflects the artist’s exploration of play as both a formal strategy and a conceptual method. Magán draws on her experience of motherhood to approach painting through repetition, spontaneity, and symbolic association. Her reinterpretation of public architecture through toy assemblage questions the monumental nature of design, redirecting attention to the intimate, the ordinary, and the fluid processes of perception and learning. Technically, the composition balances clarity and softness. Acrylic pigments are applied with precision across a white canvas, interrupted by delicate pencil outlines of buildings and riverside infrastructure. These suggest the real-world setting of the Infinity Bridge while allowing the viewer to focus on the chromatic structure at the center—a playful yet critical homage to contemporary architectural spectacle. The overall effect is both sculptural and pictorial, inviting visual and emotional engagement through layered references to memory, education, and the aesthetics of urban planning.
