The central … Read more A striking Late Gothic triptych in high relief, carved in wood and richly polychromed with remnants of gilding. The central scene depicts the Madonna with the Christ Child, gently presenting Him to a veiled female saint. The composition reflects the devotional character of late medieval sacred art, with softly modeled faces, stylized drapery folds, and luminous gold accents.

The side wings feature standing saints beneath architectural canopies with decorative profiling: on the left, an armored knight saint holding a spear; on the right, a bearded saint holding a book. The sculptural treatment and painted surface preserve a strong period character and devotional presence.
The polychromy shows authentic age-related patina, with visible wear and localized losses to the paint and gilded layers, consistent with age and historical use. The hinged construction allows the wings to close, while the reverse remains simply finished. The work likely originates from Central Europe (German / Alpine region), within the tradition of Late Gothic devotional relief carving.
