This elegant 19th‑century extendable dining table originates from the Emilia region of Italy and showcases the refined craftsmanship characteristic of the period. The oval top is veneered in flamed walnut, arranged in four sections that meet to form a sophisticated herringbone pattern. The grain has been carefully book‑matched to create a harmonious, symmetrical composition at the centre of the table.
The piece opens at the centre, with the two halves sliding on traditional wooden runners to accommodate two solid‑wood extension leaves. Once extended, the table reaches an impressive length of 246 cm—ideal for large gatherings while maintaining a balanced and graceful silhouette.
The apron is finished with end‑grain walnut veneer, offering a subtle contrast of texture, while the lower moulding adds a finely carved decorative detail. The faceted legs, carved from solid beech, taper in a truncated‑cone shape and feature a small rhomboid motif at the top—an iconic element of 19th‑century Emilian furniture.
A beautifully proportioned and highly functional piece, this table blends effortlessly into both classic and contemporary interiors.
