The work is characterized by amplified proportions and rounded forms that give the figure a sense of stability and monumental strength. The addition of a black hat, an unusual detail for a celestial figure, brings a touch of modernity and individuality to this traditional subject. Produced using the lost-wax technique, the piece is distinguished by the craftsmanship applied to the volumes of the wings and the folds of the silhouette. This bronze illustrates Botero’s approach of appropriating religious iconography and treating it through the lens of roundness, making the divine more accessible and grounded in physical reality.
