This vintage "Medea" armchair, attributed to Vittorio Nobili for Fratelli Tagliabue in the 1950s, represents one of the most recognizable examples of Italian Midcentury Modern design. The armchair is defined by its sculptural silhouette, crafted using advanced bentwood techniques that create the characteristic curved shape and elegant fan-shaped wood grain pattern associated with the Medea series. The chair/armchair shows signs of age and wear, but remains structurally sound, with a good surface condition and an authentic patina.
It bears no markings, but we should point out that the Medea armchair belongs to an era when systematic industrial marking was not always the norm.
Good overall condition, with some imperfections: the hole is asymmetrical, there is a small opening on the right side, the color is slightly faded in some spots, and when turned over, you can see a small piece of wood missing, and there is a slight imperfection on the bottom near the hole. You can see all the various imperfections in the last photos from #15 to the last.
It has no markings. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
