An exceptional lamp crafted from an authentic Empire period gilt bronze candlestick, France, circa 1805–1815.
This piece embodies the pure architectural vocabulary of the First Empire, directly inspired by Greco-Roman antiquity.
The fluted, slender, and perfectly proportioned stem rests on a tripod base adorned with powerful, finely chiseled lion's paws. The deeply sculpted acanthus leaves and grape cluster motifs attest to the high quality of bronze work, with its lively and dynamic modeling.
