Dimensions: height 41 cm, width 133.5 cm, depth 2.5 cm.

The look is serene and graphic: a calm, well-balanced composition with a central band of open slatted latticework, framed by sections of fine vertical reed or bamboo weaving.

The construction beautifully combines woodworking with bamboo craftsmanship. At the center you see vertical bamboo poles (take) forming an open grille; alongside, the panels are filled with thin bamboo or reed strips, bound with cord at regular intervals—similar to traditional sudare / yoshizu-style screens. Everything is set within a solid wooden frame, with contrasting darker rails that neatly define the geometry. That mix of materials and tones creates the classic Japanese balance between structure and softness.

Today, this piece works exceptionally well as wall decor in a minimalist interior, but it also suits an eclectic setting. It’s striking above a low cabinet or a passageway, or used as an accent panel in a Japandi or wabi-sabi inspired space.

One side bears a discreet pencil inscription (a placement note), adding character and a sense of provenance.

Condition: very good overall, with light, honest wear consistent with age. See less
