The Artist & The Style: Attributed to the ceramicist Jean Jaffreux, this table is representative of Auvergne ceramic production from the 1950s and 60s. It combines industrial aesthetics (black metal frame, exposed screws) with fine craftsmanship (glazed ceramic tiles).
Graphic Design: The rectangular tabletop plays on contrast. The majority of the tiles feature a nuanced white/gray hue, very mineral in appearance, which highlights the side band composed of bright orange and yellow tesserae. This "Pop" detail enlivens the whole piece and draws the eye.
Structure & Condition: The black metal base is solid and stable, with a minimalist design. The ceramic is in good condition (no major cracks visible), with the slight irregularities inherent to handmade pieces. This is a coffee table (H33 cm), perfect to complement a low sofa or lounge chairs.
