A design in which … Read more This rare 1960s paper bin was designed by Einar Barnes for the Norwegian company PS Heggen. A design in which craftsmanship, a sense of materials, and organic lines naturally converge. The waste bin is made entirely of teak and constructed of curved plywood, sandwiched between two solid, conically shaped slats. The warm teak hue and fine veneer give the object a calm, natural look. At the top of each slat is an oval recess that subtly serves as a handle. This detail enhances the sculptural character of the design. The curved side panels are elegantly thin yet surprisingly strong. The shape is soft and flowing, almost like a wooden leaf unfolding. Although originally designed as a wastebasket, this object lends itself effortlessly to a wider range of uses. In an interior with a passion for Scandinavian design, it can also be used purely as a design study or collector's item. We carefully cleaned the paper bin and nourished the wood, reviving the warm grain and deep color. The entire piece is in beautiful vintage condition and is ready for immediate use. Upon purchase, you will receive maintenance instructions with matching furniture oil to keep the furniture in top condition.
