Inspired by socialist and social-anarchist ideals, the Cooperative Production and Consumption Association De Ploeg was founded in 1923. This agricultural cooperative's main activity became the Weaving Mill De Ploeg, which later became the parent company of the furniture company 't Spectrum. Due to the Second World War, there was a shortage of raw materials for the weaving mill. To prevent the occupation of the workforce from employing the workers, the 't Spectrum Arts and Crafts Society was established. Furniture and home accessories made from small wood and rushes formed the basis of the range. Gerrit Rietveld was appointed by 't Spectrum director Piet Blijenburg as a member of the collection assessment committee during the war years. In the 1950s, Rietveld designed several pieces of furniture for 't Spectrum: a series of stools, tables, and a bed. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
