Tobia Scarpa worked for most of his career alongside his wife Afra Bianchin (Montebelluna, March 28, 1937 – Trevignano, July 30, 2011). Their works can be found in many museums in the United States and Europe, including MoMa and the Louvre. He collaborated with companies such as B&B Italia, San Lorenzo Silver, and Knoll International. He also received numerous awards and prizes, such as the Compasso d'Oro in 1969 and the International Forum Design in 1992. The couple's design work consists of architecture and everyday objects including furniture, clothing, interior design, and glasswork. In their designs, they focused on the technical and aesthetic possibilities of the materials used. Tobia was greatly influenced by his father, architect and designer Carlo Scarpa.
