Bořek Šípek Glass & Brass Candlestick
Attrributed to Bořek Šípek (1949–2016), the Czech artist, designer, and architect known for his concept of 'form follows poetry' and his self-described 'New Baroque'work within the Postmodern era.
The hand-blown trumpet-form glass base rises into stacked glass spheres and supports a long, linear brass stem. The brass shaft terminates in a spike that secures a taper candle. The composition emphasizes vertical tension and material contrast: transparent volume anchoring a restrained metallic line, allowing the candle to appear almost suspended in air.
This rare candlestick design exemplifies Šípek’s sculptural exploration of proportion, balance, and disciplined elegance.
