The exquisite Islamic calligraphy is rendered in a striking palette of blue, black, and warm earth tones, reflecting masterful artistry and traditional craftsmanship.

These handmade ceramic tiles were traditionally placed above the exterior doors of old homes in Konya at the time of construction. Each house typically featured only one tile, making them meaningful architectural elements believed to offer blessing and protection. Today, as many historic Konya homes have been replaced by modern buildings, authentic examples like this have become increasingly difficult to find.

The deep finger marks visible on the back of the tile suggest early hand-forming techniques and indicate that this piece is considerably older, likely the work of a skilled master artisan.

Square in shape, the tile measures approximately 19.5 cm (about 7 ¾ inches) and is about 5/8 inch thick.

Condition: There are a few small cracks in the enamel and one more prominent crack in the ceramic body. Surface scratches and minor chips along the border are present. As these tiles were installed on the exteriors of homes, they were exposed to weather and occasional impact over time. These marks are consistent with age and outdoor use and add to the authentic character and history of the piece.
