A stunning antique French teapot, likely late 18th century, possibly Dihl Et Guérhard. Decorated with the traditional cornflowers and gold leaves pattern. The handle and spout have gilt edges and detailing. All of the edges of the teapot are emphasized by gilt borders.
Similar services by Dihl Et Guérhard are currently held by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Louvre. Benjamin Franklin purchased a similar service in Paris which he brought back to Philadelphia and which are currently held by the Carnegie Museum of Art.
