This is a vibrant piece of vintage 1930's-1960's Royal Winton Grimwades square cheese/butter dish with a domed lid in the … Read more This is a vibrant piece of vintage 1930's-1960's Royal Winton Grimwades square cheese/butter dish with a domed lid in the "Summertime" chintz pattern. This pattern features a dense, colorful bouquet of English countryside flowers(pink, yellow, lavender, maroon) on a cream background. These highly collectible earthenware pieces with gold gilt frequently show age-related crazing.

This pattern was first introduced in 1932 and remained highly popular through the 1950's and early 1960's. The original era (c. 1934-1960) have a printed "A" on the backstamp, specifically denotes a piece made from this era.
Due to high demand, Royal Winton revived this pattern in the late 1990's. They do not carry the printed "A" backstamp on them, which means they are a reproduction.
