About the Artist: Elva Senter
Background: Born in Callao, Missouri, she moved to Oklahoma at age seven before settling in Columbia, California, in 1930.
Career: She was a member of the Palo Alto Art Club and resided in Menlo Park for much of her life. Her work frequently focused on local historic scenes, including the Mother Lode region and San Francisco Bay Area.
Style: Her paintings are typically Impressionist Modern in style, often executed in watercolor on paper.
Recognition: She is listed in Edan Hughes' definitive reference work, Artists in California, 1786–1940.
