Expressive mid-20th century French urban waterfront scene, attributed to Jean-Baptiste Grancher (French, 1911–1974). The work is inscribed in French lower left, beginning “Vue urbaine de P…” (partially legible), suggesting an urban view of a European port or riverfront setting.
Rendered in bold monochrome tones with strong brown linear accents, the composition features docked boats set against simplified architectural forms. The gestural linework and tonal washes are characteristic of postwar French modernist works on paper, particularly harbor and city subjects associated with Grancher’s known oeuvre.
Medium appears to be ink wash and mixed media on paper. Professionally matted and framed behind glass in a clean black frame. Ready to hang.
