Full Description
An elegant American Colonial Revival secretary bookcase desk by Northwestern Furniture Co. of Burlington, Iowa, bearing its original “Master Craft Furniture” label and dating to the 1930s–1940s.
This beautifully proportioned two-piece secretary features a dramatic broken pediment crowned with a central finial, glass-paneled upper cabinet doors, and a classic serpentine lower case supported by sculpted claw-style feet. The compact 16-inch depth makes it especially versatile for hallways, living rooms, studies, or bedrooms where footprint matters without sacrificing architectural presence.
The drop-front writing surface opens to reveal a fully fitted Georgian-inspired interior with shaped pigeonholes, turned miniature columns, a shell-carved central door, curved dividers, and small serpentine drawers — a level of detail that reflects quality Colonial Revival craftsmanship of the period.
The back retains its original Northwestern Furniture Co. label from Burlington, Iowa, along with factory markings noting mahogany veneer construction (“Mah + veneer”).
A refined and architecturally strong example of American Colonial Revival furniture offering both storage and visual impact.
