This painting was done as plein air painting in a show in Idaho, we were allowed access to a private ranch and I have always loved the color of a blue roan horse. Painting a horse from life is always tricky as you never know when they're going to walk away. But this guy stayed still long enough for me to get a good likeness.
Lorie Batson

Lorie Batson~ is a highly accomplished oil and pastel artist, celebrated for her ability to capture the spirit of the West. This original oil painting is set in a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted frame inspired by Western heritage. Framed distressed wood Black/Walnut frame. Wrapped in cowhide and accented with Western belts, detailed conchos, turquoise studs, spur Rawling and upholstery tacks which all add texture depth and rustic Western character. Each accent was carefully chosen, making Blue Roan truly unique.
