The round … Read more A bold expression of the Amsterdam School movement, this substantial center table marries sculptural rhythm with architectural gravity. The round top, a generous 78 cm in diameter, is clad in very thick dramatic Macassar ebony veneer arranged in a quadrant pattern. The grain flows in opposing directions, creating a subtle cross motif that shifts in tone as light moves across the surface. Deep espresso streaks ripple through warm caramel bands, giving the top a kinetic, almost orchestral presence.

Beneath, the structure unfolds in mahogany. Two circular tiers are anchored by strong vertical uprights with stepped detailing, each element carefully proportioned. The shelves appear to float between the supports, yet the construction is impressively sturdy, built with the quiet confidence typical of high quality Amsterdam School craftsmanship.

The lower edges reveal layered contours and precise joinery. The uprights are not merely structural but sculptural, creating shadow play and depth from every angle. from above, the table reads as geometry and grain. from the side, it becomes architecture. from across the room, it becomes an eye catcher.

Condition is very good, with minor age related wear consistent with its period. Structurally solid and stable.
