This exceptional Antique Persian Bakhtiari runner, woven around 1910, is a magnificent example of the bold artistry and enduring craftsmanship for which Bakhtiari weavings are renowned. Its impressive fifteen-foot length, vibrant palette, and beautifully balanced all-over floral design make it an outstanding choice for a grand hallway, gallery, or other elongated interior space.
The deep midnight-blue field is richly decorated with an all-over arrangement of stylized blossoms, palmettes, rosettes, and leafy floral motifs, creating remarkable visual movement while maintaining perfect symmetry throughout the length of the runner. The densely ornamented composition is lively yet harmonious, reflecting the artistic confidence of early twentieth-century Bakhtiari village weavers.
Framing the field is an elegant series of ivory and coral borders featuring traditional floral and geometric motifs that beautifully define the composition without overpowering the richly detailed center. The vivid color palette of deep indigo, brick red, coral, ivory, sky blue, sage green, camel, and soft gold has mellowed gracefully over more than a century, developing the warm character and patina sought after by collectors.
Handwoven from high-quality hand-spun wool and dyed with natural vegetable dyes, the runner exhibits a durable weave, luxurious texture, and subtle abrash that testify to its authentic village origins. The crisp drawing and excellent balance of color demonstrate the exceptional skill of its weavers.
Presented in very good condition, the runner retains a healthy pile with beautifully preserved colors and only light, even wear consistent with its age. Its generous proportions, refined floral composition, and timeless elegance make it equally at home in traditional, transitional, or contemporary interiors.
A distinguished early twentieth-century Bakhtiari runner, combining remarkable craftsmanship, vibrant decorative appeal, and enduring investment quality.
Despite its age of over a century, the runner remains in excellent condition, a testament to both its craftsmanship and careful preservation.
A rare and elegant example of early 20th-century Bakhtiari weaving, this runner would make a magnificent statement in a long hallway or gallery space, combining refinement, history, and enduring beauty.
