Hand signed and tagged on back by artist. 38.6" x 38.6" Born in 1979, DOK is a prominent figure in the French urban graffiti and street art scene. He started his career in the 90s, tagging walls in Paris alongside other well-known graffiti artists. He joined the crews UV and TPK, known for their radical and prolific work in Europe. In 1996, he founded the NWS group. Artistic Style: DOK's work is often characterized as Urban Art and is now recognized as art in its own right. His art is influenced by his background in graffiti and hip hop culture as well as his fascination with New York's 70s and 80s subway art scene, having met Keith Haring as a young man in NYC. Technique: DOK's painting technique is unique and involves using Arabic gum as a liquid stencil to create depth and texture, particularly in the background and lettering. He then uses paint and spray paint to add relief and make the letters appear weightless. This technique was developed by him over several years. He was introduced to Arabic gum at a young age by his grandfather, who was a watercolor artist, and later adapted this technique to graffiti calligraphy. Secrecy and Values: DOK, like many artists of his generation, is private about his past in graffiti, respecting the codes and values of the street art world. Current Focus: DOK currently lives in Marseille, France, where he works on canvas. His work can be seen in various street art magazines, graffiti books like "After Eight," and videos such as "Ultimates Videos 1 and 2" and "Sous-Surveillance".
