Published in Paris between 1845 and 1852 by Arthus Bertrand, Libraire de la Société de Géographie, this work forms part of the historically significant album documenting one of France’s major nineteenth-century exploratory voyages. The composition presents a tranquil rural landscape near Singapore, depicting traditional village structures with thatched roofs set within lush tropical vegetation. A group of cattle follows a winding path in the foreground, while palms and dense greenery frame the scene, conveying both the natural richness and the cultural environment encountered by European explorers in Southeast Asia during the early colonial era.
