Published in Paris between 1845 and 1852 by Arthus Bertrand, Libraire de la Société de Géographie, this plate forms part of one of the most significant nineteenth-century illustrated voyage publications documenting global exploration. The composition presents a picturesque landscape near Singapore, combining topographical observation with romantic landscape aesthetics typical of mid-nineteenth-century French expedition imagery.
