The reverse bears a Cyrillic stamp referencing a blessing from the Russian St. Panteleimon Monastery of Mount Athos, one of the most important centers of Orthodox icon production and pilgrimage.

Dating to the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1890–1930), the icon features delicate facial modeling, gold-toned accents, and incised detailing in the crowns and halos. Visible craquelure, surface patina, and traditional multi-board panel construction attest to its authenticity and age.

At an impressive 21 × 15 inches, this piece has wonderful presence and works equally well as devotional art or as a statement piece in a traditional or collected interior. See less
