Born in … Read more Maurice Newman was active/lived in Massachusetts / Lithuania. Maurice Newman is known for sculpture-abstraction, impressionist landscape painting, diorama. Born in Lithuania, Maurice Newman settled in Rockport, Massachusetts. His specialty was dioramas and miniature models, and he exhibited at the Children's Museum in Boston, the 1939 World's Fair in New York, and the Essex Institute in Salem. He studied at the Johannesburg School of Art in South Africa. He also painted impressionist landscapes and portraits. His public work includes a memorial sculpture in aluminum to the Jewish martyrs of the Warsaw Ghetto, Poland, which was installed in front of the Jewish Community Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
