Benjamin Pagart lives and works amidst the vibrant cultural energy of his Parisian studio, while Yves draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the Lot Valley, near Cahors. Their pieces are the result of a creative fusion of their respective worlds. With a post modernist, naive, folk art quality to them. They collect everything that can inspire them in the mineral, organic and plant world: pebbles, fossils, bones, leaves, flowers, branches, shells and even a raccoon! With their hands in the soil or at the painting, ideas flow, and in this very exciting game which they never tire of, it is rare that at the end of the day they have not found some harmonious forms for their next art furniture. With humor and poetry and whimsy, his zoomorphic fantasy animal designs have a real bite. This one is a kneeling nude woman holding a tray, possibly African inspired. Yves carefully prepares each prototype for casting, and Benjamin handles the cabinetmaking and fabrication. Bronze, steel, lacquer, painting and exotic wood are their preferred materials. Benjamin Pagart holds a dual degree from the Strasbourg School of Decorative Arts and a vocational certificate in cabinetmaking. Yves Pagart learned wood and stone sculpture at the Valenciennes School of Fine Arts. The record price for this artist at auction is 11,884 USD for Chaise longue 'Mante', sold at Christie's Paris in 2024. This is in the tradition of the whimsical, functional, and nature-inspired art of Les Lalanne (François-Xavier Lalanne and Claude Lalanne) as well as Garouste and Bonetti, Gerard Rigot, Wendell Castle, Line Vautrin, Niki de Saint Phalle This was inspired by the Surrealism movement in particular René Magritte, Salvador Dali and Man Ray. Yves Pagart’s work is characterized by the manipulation of metal—bending, cutting, rolling, and smoothing steel sheets—to create sculptural furniture that often draws inspiration from the natural world. His pieces exhibit organic forms that blur the line between art and functionality. These works are typically produced in limited editions, emphasizing their exclusivity and artistic value. Pagart’s works have been exhibited internationally and are sought after in the art and design markets.
