This sculptural space age wall light was produced by oxar in france during the 1970s. The lamp features a rectangular satin metal wall mount supporting two horizontally aligned light sources, each surrounded by a spiral diffuser in chromed metal wire with a reflective central cap.
the spiral structure gives the lamp a strong graphic presence even when switched off, while when illuminated it produces a pronounced radial light pattern across the wall. This expressive interplay of light, shadow and structure is emblematic of french space age lighting of the period.
the design is attributed to philippe rogier and reflects oxar’s experimental approach to lighting as both a functional and architectural element. Fitted with e27 sockets and retaining its original wiring, the lamp is offered in good vintage condition with minor patina consistent with age.
