A powerful statement of Mid-Century Americana, this large 14.25" ceramic lion was a flagship decorative piece for the Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company (R.R.P. Co.) of Roseville, Ohio. A departure from their traditional utilitarian stoneware, this figure famously graced the cover of the company’s 1973 catalog. The "prowling" pose is expertly sculpted with a heavy, detailed mane and a majestic facial expression, all finished in a brilliant high-gloss honey-tan and charcoal glaze.
