Full Description
This antique American mahogany chest dates to approximately 1890–1910 and reflects the refined proportions of the Federal and Hepplewhite Revival period.
The top drawer features a delicate ribbon and foliate inlay executed in contrasting veneer, while the lower drawers showcase dramatic bookmatched flame mahogany with strong symmetrical grain movement. The case is framed by subtle vertical fluting at the corners and stands on tapered, fluted legs with turned detail at the collar.
Original brass rosette ring pulls remain intact and display a natural aged patina consistent with the period. The finish retains its warmth and depth, highlighting the richness of the veneer without appearing overly restored.
This chest is the companion piece to a matching dresser from the same estate and era and was photographed in a refined bedroom setting to reflect its scale and architectural presence. It is equally strong as a standalone statement chest in a bedroom, entry, or collected traditional interior.
Authentic early 20th century craftsmanship with elegant restraint.
